Description: |
4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 05 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #8114 and #8969. Both are BS-16M's built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #8114 was constructed in May of 1951 and retired in September of 1967, while #8969 was built in June of 1951 and retired in July of 1966. They are parked near the 4th Street Footbridge and SOUTH Tower, and will resume their yard-shifting duties the following morning. Engine #8114 was once owned by the Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad and numbered #40! |
